Mini Book Review: All Good People Here

Say what you want about Ashley Flowers but she’s a helluva storyteller. Her debut novel All Good People Here gives readers a nice mix of drama, mystery, crime, and scandal — intrigue all around.

The story itself will be familiar to anyone who’s had an ear on true crime the past few decades. Readers need only get a few chapters in before they recognize its origin. But Flowers adds some nice twists to it that make it a breeze to get through. Plus, she brings a certain closure to a mystery that people are still wracking their brains to solve.

I’m not an avid reader. After spending my college years overanalyzing every novel assigned to me, reading became more of a chore than a pleasure. I share this to say that it’s hard to keep my interest. I will gladly drop a book just a few pages in if I can’t find a reason to care. This is one of the rare ones I finished and enjoyed. I wanted to know how it ended; I needed to know whodunnit.

If you’re looking for something to pass the time, this is the book for you. And if you’re a fan of Crime Junkie and other true crime podcasts, it’s a must read. Not all crime fictions is — believe me, I tried to find a follow up to this and gave up so fast that I almost read All Good People Here for a second time.

All in all, a quick and easy read.
